poster
posted on 2020-11-10, 14:19 authored by Lydia HudsonZoological biobanks are curated collections of biological samples from wild and zoo animals. These samples are valuable sources of genetic material and contain a wealth of information that can support conservation management and help fundamental biological research. CryoArks is a BBSRC-funded project led by Cardiff University that is creating the first UK comprehensive national zoological biobank by working to bring together UK frozen collections from endangered species, livestock breeds and other wildlife, both physically and digitally. CryoArks will make this resource accessible via a web portal for responsible and sustainable use to further research knowledge and contribute to biodiversity conservation efforts.
